What is an exposition?

According to the dictionary,there are eight definitions to the word 'exposition'. The origin of the word would be the Latin word for 'exposure'. And the definition most pertinent to our discussion today would be that exposition is an act of expounding, setting forth, or explaining. However, another definition of exposition would that it is writing or speech primarily intended to convey information or to explain; a detailed statement or explanation; explanatory treatise.

Adding on to the dictionary, exposition can come in many forms, a debate, an essay, an advertisement and even a play.
